Community-Powered Infrastructure Justice: A Multi-Benefit Infrastructure Project Showcase
Welcome to Community-Powered Infrastructure Justice: A Multi-Benefit Infrastructure Project Showcase, a collaboration between the Infrastructure Justice LA Coalition and Public Exchange at USC.
At this event, you'll learn about innovative efforts to build climate-resilient communities through partnerships and community-led planning. We'll explore how multi-benefit projects, supported by local, state, and federal resources, are transforming neighborhoods to address climate, environmental, social, and economic needs.
Discover how our partnership with the LA County Chief Sustainability Office, which began with a motion from the Board of Supervisors, has evolved into a powerful initiative that prioritizes community input to develop a pipeline of impactful, climate-resilient projects.
You'll also hear from public and private project developers who will share how they are engaging communities and fostering partnerships to create lasting, sustainable infrastructure.
Finally, we’ll showcase our work with USC’s Public Exchange, which focuses on funding strategies for local infrastructure programs, and highlight real-world projects that demonstrate the transformative impact of community-powered infrastructure on Los Angeles.
What Are Multi-Benefit Infrastructure Projects?
IJLA defines multi-benefit projects are those that address community needs for clean water, parks, accessible multi modal transportation, and affordable housing.
Some examples of the benefits that these projects provide include overall improvements to public health, climate resiliency and improved social and economic conditions.
Multi-benefit projects are most successful when local community members are a significant partner in the project development, implementation and operations process.
